Submission to the Senate Inquiry into Nationhood, National Identity and Democracy

Submission to the Senate Inquiry into Nationhood, National Identity and Democracy

If you only read (and perhaps share) one government discussion paper this year, then make it this one. In a concise 8pg document the Federal Senate has outlined global threats to democracy across the world and its scope to affect Australia.

This is exactly the type of question we want to answer. More accurately, its exactly the question we want everyday people to discuss and answer and that is at the core of our submission. If Australia was to open up a well-structured and substantive multi-year conversation that would offer a starting point that comes from beyond politics and thus clear the first hurdle of burbling weary cynicism. The somewhat empty phrase “national conversation”  could be at last given real meaning and we hope to convey that aspiration to the Senate.

We hope you’ll take the time to read and share our response to their questions.

We’ll keep this page updated as the Inquiry unfolds.
